I bought an $8 ceramic skull from a store and wanted to age it and make it look more realistic. I did so by painting the eyes, nose, and jaw areas dark black smearing some by the jaw bones. Then I worked on the mouth area making the teeth look rotted with yellow, brown, and black paints. Then once dry I wet painted the rest of the entire skull. Wet painting is when I mix black paint with water in a spray bottle and sprayed it on the skull. That allowed all the black to get into the cracks and crevices of the skull. I then wiped the excess paint/water off with a rag. I repeated that about 3 times to get the right effect. To finish the skull, once dried overnight I applied a clear protective coating so it's protected against rain & sun.
